EMC Acquires Infra, and IT Service Management (ITSM) Software Provider
EMC Corporation, a provider of information infrastructure solutions, announced that it has acquired privately-held Infra Corporation Pty Limited – a provider of IT Service Management (ITSM) software. This acquisition further solidifies EMC’s “Closed Loop Service Orchestration” strategy, designed to automate data center operations and return visibility and control to IT management. Infra provides a Web-based, ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library)-verified solution that automates IT Service Management processes in enterprise organizations. Infra’s service desk, with its ability to manage the full lifecycle of IT services, complements EMC’s automated discovery, rich analytics, native dependency mapping and model-based approach – better enabling customers to manage service delivery end-to-end.

Corporate Layoffs Fall 4% in February
Planned corporate job reductions numbered 72,091 in February, down by about 4% from January's announced cuts and "well below" recessionary levels, outplacement firm Challenger Gray & Christmas reported Wednesday. The planned job cuts were down 14% from the 84,014 of February 2007. Through the first two months of the year, layoffs unchanged from last year.

Capgemini to Use India as Global Training Hub
French consulting giant Capgemini will use India as one of its global training bases. The company, which trains over 10,000 people globally every year, has partnered with the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad to start two courses in the country. Capgemini also announced that it plans to become a 40,000 strong team in India. The company trains around 5,500 people in global courses and another 5,000 in local courses. India would become the consulting major's global training center.
