Lawsuit Claims Employee was Waterboarded as Motivational Technique
A former employee of a motivational coaching business in Utah is suing after he was allegedly waterboarded in front of a sales team. Chad Hudgens is suing Prosper Inc. and his former team leader, Joshua Christopherson, for assault and battery, according to UPl. The lawsuit said Hudgens was told to lie down with his head downhill. The sales team was then allegedly told to hold Hudgens down while Christopherson poured water from a gallon jug over Hudgens’ mouth and nostrils.

Yahoo Plans 1,000 Layoffs, Sees Growth as Profits Fall
Yahoo said it will cut 1,000 jobs this month as it announced profits fell 23 percent in its fiscal fourth quarter. This announcement preceded Microsoft�s announcement that it had offered $44.5 billion to buy the company. Yahoo says that net income for the quarter ended Dec. 31 fell to $206 million, or 15 cents a share, from $269 million, or 19 cents a share, for the year-ago period. Analysts are speculating that if Yahoo can't find its path to growth, it will face enormous pressure to lay off more employees or make a dramatic move, such as an acquisition or merger.

CMP Acquires Think Service, Inc., Including HDI, for $24.5 million
CMP, a media, marketing solutions and services company, announced that it has acquired Colorado-based Think Service, Inc., including HDI (formerly the Help Desk Institute), a membership association for IT help desk and service management professionals and a certification body for the industry. This acquisition will broaden and deepen CMP�s services portfolio to encompass certification in addition to membership, training and events for IT support professionals and their respective corporate organizations. HDI will be an independent operating unit within CMP�s International Customer Management Institute (ICMI) group headed by Ruthann Fisher, Vice President and Global Brand Director. Peggy Libbey, President and COO of Think Service, Inc., will continue to manage the operational direction of HDI.
